Review: HerCut Long Layers Catalyst

Hey there! So in one of my most recent Youtube videos, I did a collective haul and mentioned purchasing the Long Layers Catalyst from HerCut haircare. This product says that "luxe layers stay connected and never fall flat", and you "get height at the roots and bouncy, touchable movement everywhere else".

HerCut is a hairline sold at Sephora, and they designed specialized Catalysts for different haircuts. So basically, all their products are geared towards keeping you haircut looking like new everyday. I purchased the one for long layered hair, since my hair is very long, and has layers. The product comes in a packaging of two seperate but connected bottles, one with a cream and one with a gel. It has a nice combined scent, very herbal and floral. You're supposed to squirt them out together, emulsify them in your hands, then work it through towel-dry hair.

I followed the steps and blow dried my hair. I round brushed the top layers and then flipped my head over and blow dried the rest. My first reactions towards this product is that it's very heavy. It feels thick in my hair, almost like there's too much product (the bottle recommends 2-3 pumps, and I did 3). Also, it doesn't feel very "bouncy", as the packaging put it. It feels kind of stuck together, not in a sticky way but just held together as a style. However, my hair looks like it has more body, more volume, and the ends are more defined and piece-y, which is very nice. I would like to try using this product again and round-brushing my whole head to then see what happens.

Overall, the rating I give this product (with 1 being the worst and 10 being the best) would be a 7. It does what it's supposed to do, and very nicely, but it does make my hair feel like there's a lot of product. Next time I'll use less of it and see if anything changes. I would recommend this to others, and depending on your haircut you can find the right one for you.

Stay beautiful,
Wren
